In order to improve eating habits that lead to the prevention of metabolic syndrome in the local populace, a course was held combining a number of physical measurements and a survey of dietary conditions with nutrition education. The course contents included taking such measurements as weight, abdominal circumference and blood vessel condition, along with a survey of dietary conditions (via a "buffet style" selection of menu cards). Following this, participants were given advice on diet and exercises to reverse damage to blood vessels through lectures and individual nutrition counseling. Taking into account both the eating habits and results of questionnaires of the participants, it would appear the course was effective for participants. In future courses, however, an investigation of ways to attract younger participants is an issue that still remains.
