In an effort to prevent lifestyle diseases and metabolic syndrome that have become societal problems in Japan, it is very important to provide health education at an earlier age. The authors believe that it is necessary to provide health education to adolescents in particular. Using the peer education technique, college students became peer supporters for high school students in the exercise and nutrition components of health education. As a result, high school students were able to acquire knowledge and enjoyably practice with their peer supporters who were near in age. After they completed their studies, it was inferred that the education was effective in changing students' consciousness and behavior. The authors aim to further promote training and proficiency of peer supporters, and advance nutrition and exercise education for adolescents learning through peer education, and also for their parents.
