The village named Nishiamuro (79 households and 119 population in 2001) as a case was chosen among the Amami Island. From 26th of August to 1st of September 2001, the questionnaires survey was operated to 51 households, with which included 69 aged men and women. 42 households with 57 villagers answered. This is a report focused on the eating habits of the aged in the isolated islands. The results of the survey shows as following: 1. The aged villagers are taking an important role of helping each other through intimate local network. 2. The aged villagers are going out of doors frequently, and are active all the year round. 3.
