A corpus compiled from each textbook was analyzed with a concordancer program to examine qualitative and quantitative characteristics of its vocabulary considering: 1) the lexical density or TTR, 2) function words, 3) content words, 4) collation with the JACET 4000 Basic Words as criterial data, and lastly 5) technical terms. The results showed similarities and differences in vocabulary between the two textbooks: the TTR of the Nutrition textbook was higher than that of the Nursing textbook. One characteristic in the function words, generic use of "you" in the Nutrition textbook, suggested a difference in register and style between the two textbooks. The content words reflected topic-based vocabulary of the readings extracted from their original sources for Nursing and Nutrition, respectively. A substantial number of technical terms fell in the "Other" category outside of the JACET 4000 Basic Words. The study concludes that vocabulary analyses can provide judgment criteria for selecting textbooks appropriate for vocabulary learning along with the contents. Word lists also play an important role in terms of indicating goals for vocabulary learning.}, pages = {103--132}, title = {専門分野に関連した講読用教科書の語彙に関する調査 : 看護学科と栄養学科}, volume = {2}, year = {2002}, yomi = {ヨシダ, ミドリ} }
