College education, including English language instruction, must provide students with solid academic preparation before they enter the professional world. This paper first introduces ESP, a newly developing trend in Japanese college English language education, in hopes that the faculty members of the School of Nursing and Nutrition will have a shared knowledge of what ESP is and that the English teachers will obtain support and assistance from these faculty members. The paper also discusses how EGP and ESP education should be balanced in light of the educational goals and the instructional settings of Tenshi College. Secondly, this paper shows the results of two questionnaires administered to Tenshi students and faculty, respectively. The results of these surveys may contain significant information for improving EGP and ESP courses in the near future. A successful ESP education can also develop learner autonomy, the basis for lifelong learning throughout the careers of Tenshi graduates. Finally, practical applications for the future reform will be proposed.}, pages = {79--96}, title = {天使大学における英語教育のあり方を求めて : EGP教育からESP教育へ}, volume = {1}, year = {2001}, yomi = {ヨシダ, ミドリ} }
