An attempt to push on with the campaign "Health Japan 21" in senior high school education : The plot of the lesson structure in home economics education
The purpose of this paper is to show how effectively high school teachers can promote the campaign "Health Japan 21" in the new curriculum of home economics education which starts in April, 2003. In order to carry out this purpose, common contents must be found out between the new curriculum and "Health Japan 21", and the results of a questionnaire to the students and home economics teachers on life style are used. The number of the students, who are public high school students in Hokkaido, are 21. They studied with willingness according to the plots of each lesson structure. The Key results of this paper are as follows: 1) A lot of time and effort was required for study. 2) This attempt was effective in their forming life skills, but objective results were not fully achieved. 3) More professional knowledge about food was required of teachers. 4) The continuation of this attempt will find out an effective approach to measure the results of teaching on scientific bases.
